Volunteering in South Africa


The Volunteer work includes all work with the horses, such a grooming, cleaning of stables ( we don't have many stables, horses gernerally sleep out) Paddock maintenance and helping out on the farm.

We do spend 1 day in the community wherby you will help organise a fun day for the underpriviledged children.

You are accommodated in our small Hay Hotel, which is a 1 bedroomed cottage, with bathroom and kitchentte. There 4 bunkbeds in the cottage. The cottage is really nice and neat and in the stable yard.

Food will be provided for you, to either cook yourself or join the family for meals.

You will ride every day, either help with the schooling of the horses ( if u are capable) and go on trail rides ranging from 1hr to maybe even an overnight trail in the mountains. If you are keen, fit and strong, we will give you horse stunt lessons as a reward for your hard work.

You will have one day off a week to enjoy and explore the area. We will help you with transport to the Village and you can even organise tours from there.

The minimum stay for a Volunteer is 2 weeks at R 4500.00 for a 2 week period.
For every extra week thereafter the rate would be R 2100.00 per week.

Should you wish to stay for 2 months or longer, the rate would be R 1500.00 per week, payable upfront.
In this case, should you actively be helping us, taking the horse trails, we would pay you a small salary of R 100.00 per day, thereby reducing your contribution. ( This is only applicable in our high season Nov -Jan)
