Out client NIDYA (Northern Ireland Deaf Youth Association), currently have a vacancy for a Communications and Administration Officer based in Belfast.

JOB PURPOSE:

To be responsible, for the day to day administration of NIDYA. Maintaining databases, book keeping, reception duties, and providing communication support for Deaf colleagues.

Qualifications

Essential

British Sign Language Level 2 as a minimum

GCSE English and Maths.


Experience
Essential

Some experience of budget monitoring or book keeping.

Experience of communicating with sign language users.


Experience of using accounts software such as Sage or Quickbooks.

Experience of undertaking clerical & administrative duties.

Experience in the use of Microsoft office.

Experience of petty cash handling and maintenance.

Desirable
Experience of working for a charitable organisation.

Experience of producing reports for a variety of different audiences.

Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner

Ability to maintain efficient record keeping systems.

Ability to identify work priorities and manage own workload to meet deadlines whilst ensuring lower priority work is still kept up to date.

Ability to use communication skills effectively with; clients, colleagues, suppliers, & professional bodies.

Knowledge of budget management and accounting techniques.


Knowledge of deaf culture and issues.

Desirable
Knowledge of Irish sign language.

Ability to engage with a range of stakeholders including young people and adults.

Willingness to participate in further training and development.

Effective time management.

Ability to work effectively within a team.


Duties.

1. Maintain accurate records, develop and maintain databases. Draft and issue letters/ emails to members.

2. Basic book keeping, ensuring accounts are maintained and up to date, ordering of supplies and payment of invoices..

3. Reception duties, answering telephone and communicating with colleagues and the general public.

4. To provide communication support to Deaf colleagues and clients using BSL and English.

5. Preparation of monthly payroll and maintenance of accurate records..

6. Maintain petty cash and expenses records.

7. Submission of timely reporting and maintaining good relations with funding bodies.

8. Assisting line manger to prepare training materials and prepare for events.

What kind of benefits could a Communications and Administration Officer expect….

£14,600 - £18,500 Pro Rata dependant on qualification and experience (14 hours per week)
