The Varionis
Born in late 2007 The Varionis have been through the obvious changes that most bands starting out inevitably encounter but have smashed their way onto the scene as a stronger collective unit. The Varionis are five lads who all have the same love, a passion for playing music they believe in and want to listen to. 2008 saw the band record and release an EP described by Bruised Fruit Promotions as 'a record that will have you dancing one minute and leave you holding up your lighter the next' alongside a successful launch night to celebrate. This year’s EP launch will arrive immediately after the band play support to the Hotrats (aka Supergrass) and the infamous Buzzcocks. With the EP already being played on local radio it promises to live up to high expectations.
‘They are probably the most under-estimated band in Northern Ireland at the moment.’ Mark Dunn GiggingNi.com
‘It's a very British type of sound, done well, and with enough catchiness to keep us hooked till it's over.’ BBC ATL
The Good Fight
“Soaring on eddying blasts of guitar and heavens-scraping vocals, the four piece create the sort of impassioned indie-rock that has made the fortunes of coldplay and snow patrol." Hotpress Magazine,
“They fill a gap that once you hear them you wonder how you ever lived without them…they have the ability to raise their game with every track they write, and how exciting is that?"
Rory McConnell, BBC Introducing
Seven Summits
‘We don’t usually do albums of the month on this show, but the debut album from Seven Summits is just so good we can’t stop playing it.’ Rory McConnell BBC Introducing
‘Rory Nellis’s voice is perfect. Magical and innocent.’ Rock Sound
Microlip
Born of frustration and boredom Microlip formed in December 07, in the short time that we’ve been together we’ve amassed an arsenal of songs that we are really proud of… and beat thousands of other hopefuls in a competition to support THE SCRIPT in Belfast. Things are starting to really come together for us chancers from Portadown, we aim to keep our heads down, work hard and make it impossible for labels to overlook us!
‘Songs like Man of Steel and Dance Beneath the Feet are infectious rock pop anthems driven by catchy vocal melodies and guitar hooks. Given the opportunity these guys
could creep up and give the bigger local bands one hell of a shock.’ GiggingNi.com
